Is A&E for Me?

Meet Jenny, she works in A&E and is here to talk to you about alternatives to A&E.

Make sure your speakers are turned on and press the play button to watch. The video will start after a short period of buffering.

An A&E department (also known as emergency department or casualty) deals with genuine life-threatening emergencies, such as:

  • loss of consciousness
  • acute confused state and fits that are not stopping
  • persistent, severe chest pain
  • breathing difficulties
  • severe bleeding that cannot be stopped
  • severe allergic reactions
  • severe burns or scalds

For more information on getting the right treatment at the right time see a list of alternatives here.
