Dr Gulliford has been employed as a substantive consultant at WWL since 2011. After studying for a BSc in Medical Science at St Andrews, Stephen moved to Manchester to complete his clinical training in medicine in 2004, obtaining his CCT in General Internal Medicine and Acute Meidicine in 2011. Dr Gulliford has a keen interest in scientific writing and has published a number of articles in the medical literature on a variety of acute medical topics. Stephen is passionate about medical education. As a Registrar he was the elected lead for the regional acute medicine registrar educational programme, having previously held the position of Associate Tutor for the Royal College of Physicians and is currently the Foundation Programme Director for the Trust.
Stephen’s special area of interest is patient flow and the development of comprehensive ambulatory clinical care pathways to provide the best possible healthcare to the people of Wigan and the surrounding areas.
