Stuart studied dentistry in Edinburgh before completing Junior Hospital Posts in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Aberdeen. He then studied Medicine in Aberdeen completing basic surgical training in Aberdeen and Edinburgh before higher surgical training in the North East of England. He was appointed Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to Central Manchester and Manchester NHS Trust and WWL in August 2002.
Stuart is a member of the European association of Facial Plastic Surgeons and the Association of Facial Plastic Surgeons. He regularly teaches on Advance Trauma Life Support and Critical Care of the Surgical Patient Courses. He examines for the Edinburgh College of Surgeons for MFDS, MRCS and the Exit Specialty FRCS exam in Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery. He is currently a Specialty Advisor for the North West for the Royal College of Surgeons. He has over 50 publications covering all aspects of Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery.
